Candela Matrix Pro combines precision microneedling with radiofrequency (RF) energy to stimulate collagen renewal beneath the skin’s surface. Ultra-fine, insulated microneedles deliver controlled heat at adjustable depths, creating targeted treatment zones that trigger the skin’s natural repair response.
Together, microneedling and RF energy support gradual improvements in firmness, fine lines and skin texture. As collagen remodels over the following weeks and months, the skin can appear smoother and firmer.

Sessions & results
How many sessions you’ll need
We start with a series of 3 treatments, spaced approximately 4–8 weeks apart. Milder concerns may need fewer sessions while others may be recommended more. We tailor the number and timing to your skin, goals and response.
What each appointment involves
Topical numbing cream is applied before treatment for comfort. Your clinician then treats the selected areas using personalised depth and energy settings. Appointment length depends on the areas treated and includes time for numbing.
When results appear
You may notice early improvements after your first treatment, but the fuller result develops gradually over the following months as collagen remodels. We review your progress as your skin responds.
Maintaining your results
Maintenance treatments may be recommended according to your skin and goals. Consistent sun protection and a suitable skincare routine help support your results over time.
Preparation & aftercare
Before your appointment
Your skin should be free from sunburn or irritation. Our team will explain which skincare products to pause beforehand, including retinoids and exfoliating acids.
Tell us about medications, recent skin treatments and any history of cold sores. Arrive with clean skin, free of makeup, and don’t stop prescribed medication without medical advice.
What recovery looks like
Your skin may feel warm, tight or sensitive, similar to a mild sunburn. Temporary redness, swelling and small pinpoint crusts can occur.
These effects generally settle over the next 24–48 hours, although recovery varies with the settings, treatment area and your skin’s response. Allow some flexibility around important events.
What aftercare involves
Aftercare centres on gentle cleansing, moisturising and sun protection while your skin heals. Any pinpoint crusts should be left to shed naturally.
You’ll need a temporary break from makeup and active skincare products. Our team will explain when to resume your usual products, exercise, swimming and heat exposure, and when other skin treatments can be scheduled.
Support during recovery
We provide personalised aftercare guidance. Worsening pain, persistent burning, blisters, discharge or unexpected skin changes should be assessed promptly by our team.

How is Matrix Pro different from standard microneedling?

What is radiofrequency (RF) energy?
RF energy is a form of electromagnetic energy that generates heat within tissue. Matrix Pro delivers it through microneedles beneath the skin’s surface to stimulate collagen remodelling for gradually smoother, firmer-looking skin.
Will Matrix Pro affect my facial fat?
Our aim is to improve skin quality and firmness while preserving your facial volume. Matrix Pro’s adjustable depths and real-time energy feedback help your clinician tailor treatment to your anatomy. These safeguards support controlled delivery, although unintended fat loss remains a possible risk of RF microneedling.
Is Matrix Pro suitable for skin of colour?
It can be suitable for a range of skin tones, including skin of colour. We assess your skin and pigmentation history and personalise the settings. Pigmentation changes remain a possible risk.
Does treatment hurt?
Topical numbing cream helps keep you comfortable. You may still feel warmth, pressure or brief prickling, with sensations varying by treatment area and settings.
Who is a good candidate?
Matrix Pro may suit people concerned about fine lines, mild skin laxity, crepey texture or acne scarring. We assess your skin, facial structure and medical history to determine whether it suits your goals.
Can Matrix Pro replace a facelift?
Matrix Pro may improve skin firmness, but it cannot reproduce the lifting or tissue repositioning achieved with surgery. More significant laxity may require a different approach.
Can it be combined with injectables or other skin treatments?
Yes, where appropriate. We plan the sequence and spacing around your goals, recent treatments and recovery, allowing each treatment time to settle.
Are there any risks?
Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness and pinpoint crusting can occur. Other risks include pigmentation changes and infection. Serious complications reported with RF microneedling include burns, scarring, unintended fat loss and nerve damage. We discuss these at consultation.
