How it works
Fractional treatment, beneath the surface
ResurFX delivers laser energy in narrow, microscopic columns, creating controlled zones of heat that stimulate the skin’s repair response.
Untreated tissue remains between these zones to support healing. As collagen remodels, skin texture and fine lines can gradually improve. Because it is non-ablative, treatment does not remove the whole surface layer as an ablative resurfacing laser would.
Precision tailored to your concerns
Energy, treatment density and scanning pattern are selected according to your skin and treatment area. ResurFX’s CoolScan™ technology distributes treatment spots to limit heat accumulation, while contact cooling supports comfort.
Numbing cream may be used before treatment. You may feel warmth or prickling as the laser passes over the skin.
What it treats
Fine lines & uneven texture
Collagen renewal can soften fine lines and improve rough or uneven texture, creating smoother-looking skin.
Acne scars & selected other scars
ResurFX may improve the appearance of certain scars by encouraging tissue remodelling. Scar type and depth matter, and some concerns benefit from a combination of treatments.
Stretch marks
Selected stretch marks may become less noticeable as their texture improves. Treatment aims for improvement rather than complete removal.
Sessions & aftercare
How many sessions you’ll need
ResurFX is commonly planned as a series, allowing time between appointments for healing and collagen renewal. Your clinician recommends the number, spacing and intensity according to your concerns.
When results develop
Early changes may appear after an initial treatment, but texture improvements develop gradually. Collagen remodelling can continue for several months after your course.
What recovery looks like
Expect some warmth, redness, swelling or sensitivity after treatment. Temporary dryness or roughness may also occur. Recovery depends on the settings and area treated, so we’ll explain what to expect before you book around work or events.
Aftercare that supports healing
Keep skincare gentle, moisturise as advised and protect your skin from sun exposure. Avoid rubbing, scrubbing or picking treated skin.
Check with our team before resuming makeup, retinoids, exfoliating acids, exercise, heat exposure or other skin treatments.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know which treatment I need?
We assess the cause of your concern. IPL primarily addresses selected pigmentation and redness; ResurFX focuses on texture, fine lines and scars. Your plan may include one treatment or both.
Can IPL and ResurFX be combined?
Yes, where appropriate. The two technologies can address different aspects of skin appearance within a coordinated plan. We’ll discuss whether combining them suits your skin and recovery needs.
Are these treatments suitable for skin of colour?
Suitability differs between IPL and ResurFX. Skin tone, recent tanning and your tendency to develop pigmentation affect treatment selection and settings. IPL requires particular caution in darker skin, and another approach may be preferable.
Can M22 treat melasma?
Melasma needs a careful, individual plan. Heat and inflammation can worsen pigmentation in some patients, so IPL or laser treatment is not automatically the right choice for every dark patch.
How should I prepare?
Avoid tanning and tell us about recent sun exposure, medications, active skincare, cold sores and recent procedures. We’ll provide treatment-specific preparation instructions. Do not stop prescribed medication without medical advice.
How long will results last?
This depends on the concern, your response, sun exposure and ongoing skin changes. Sun protection and appropriate skincare help maintain improvement. Further treatment may be recommended after review.
Are there any risks?
Risks include burns, blistering, pigment changes, infection and, less commonly, scarring. Careful assessment, appropriate settings and following aftercare instructions help reduce risk.
When should I contact the team after treatment?
Contact us promptly for persistent burning, increasing pain, worsening swelling, blisters, discharge or unexpected skin colour changes. Vision symptoms require immediate emergency assessment.
Bring your concern, not a treatment name.
Whether it’s sunspots, redness, fine lines or acne scarring, tell us what you’d like to address. We’ll assess your skin and help you decide whether IPL, ResurFX or another approach suits your goals.
