Dr. Steph on PRF EZ Gel

How it works

Your own blood, transformed into a treatment

PRF EZ Gel combines platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) with albumin, a protein found naturally in your blood. A small blood sample is spun in a centrifuge to separate these components. The albumin-rich plasma is heated and cooled to create a gel, then combined with the PRF to prepare it for injection.

Volume support with gradual skin improvement

Once injected, PRF EZ Gel provides gentle support beneath the skin. The platelet-rich fibrin contains platelets and growth factors involved in tissue repair, which may support collagen activity and gradual improvements in skin texture, thickness and elasticity.

The initial volume effect is subtle. Improvements in skin quality develop progressively, helping the treated area appear smoother, brighter and more rested without creating a heavily filled look.

How it differs from dermal filler

Hyaluronic acid filler provides more immediate and predictable volume and can be selected for defined shaping, projection or structural support. PRF EZ Gel offers softer volume support alongside gradual skin-quality improvement.

PRF EZ Gel is not a direct replacement for dermal filler in every area. The right option depends on whether your concern is primarily hollowing, skin quality, structural volume loss or a combination of these factors.

What it treats

Under-eye hollowing and tear troughs

PRF EZ Gel can provide gentle support beneath the eyes, helping to soften hollowing and create a smoother transition between the lower eyelid and cheek.

Dark circles and a tired appearance

Dark circles may be caused by hollowing, thin skin, visible blood vessels, pigmentation or a combination of factors. PRF EZ Gel may improve brightness when shadows and skin quality are contributing to the concern, but it will not correct every type of under-eye darkness.

Fine lines and crepey skin

The regenerative components within PRF may support gradual improvements in thin, crepey skin and fine lines, helping the treated area appear smoother and more refreshed.

Cheeks and subtle facial volume loss

PRF EZ Gel may be used in selected areas of the cheeks or midface where subtle volume support and improved skin quality are desired. It does not provide the same projection or structural definition as a firmer hyaluronic acid filler.

Smile lines and marionette lines

Gentle support may help soften selected folds around the nose and mouth. We assess the surrounding facial structure before deciding whether PRF EZ Gel, dermal filler or another treatment is the more appropriate option.

Lip and perioral rejuvenation

In suitable patients, PRF EZ Gel may be used to support softness and skin quality around the lips. It is better suited to subtle rejuvenation than creating the defined shape or noticeable volume associated with traditional lip filler.

Aftercare

The first few days

You may experience swelling, redness, tenderness or bruising around the injection sites. These usually improve as the area settles, although recovery varies. Allow time before important events.

  • Avoid rubbing or massaging the treated area unless instructed.
  • Follow your clinician’s guidance on exercise, alcohol, makeup and skincare.
  • Check with our team before scheduling facials or other treatments around the eyes.

As your results develop

Early fullness may partly reflect swelling. Skin-quality improvements develop gradually, so allow time before judging your result and attend your planned reviews.

When to contact us

Contact our team if redness, swelling or tenderness worsens, or if you develop persistent lumps or other concerns. Seek urgent medical attention for severe or increasing pain, changes in skin colour, or any vision changes.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

How is PRF EZ Gel different from traditional PRP?

Both use components from your own blood. PRP is typically injected as a liquid, while PRF EZ Gel combines platelet-rich fibrin with an albumin gel to provide gentle volume support alongside growth factors involved in tissue repair.

Can EZ Gel replace traditional dermal fillers?

In some cases, it may offer an alternative for under-eye concerns. PRF EZ Gel provides gentle volume support and gradual skin-quality improvement, while hyaluronic acid filler offers more direct shaping. Your consultation helps determine which suits you.

Is there a risk of allergic reactions?

Using your own blood reduces the concern about allergy to the gel itself, but treatment is not risk-free. Tell us about any allergies, including reactions to numbing products or antiseptics, so we can plan appropriately.

How many treatments will I need?

A series may be recommended, depending on your under-eye concerns and response. We’ll discuss the number and spacing of sessions at consultation, then review your progress before recommending further treatment or maintenance.

Can PRF EZ Gel be combined with lasers or microneedling?

It may form part of a broader treatment plan when appropriate. We assess what each treatment can contribute and plan the timing carefully, allowing the treated area to recover between procedures.

When will I see results?

Early fullness may partly reflect temporary swelling. Skin-quality improvements develop gradually over the following weeks and may become more noticeable through your treatment series. Allow time for recovery before judging your result.

How long do results last?

Duration varies with your skin, treatment plan and individual response. The gel’s volume support is temporary, while skin-quality improvements may last beyond the initial fullness. Maintenance is guided by your response.

Is PRF EZ Gel suitable for everyone?

Suitability depends on your medical history, medications and under-eye anatomy. Certain blood or platelet conditions and active infections may make treatment unsuitable. A consultation helps determine whether it can address your concerns.

Bring your concern, not a treatment name.

Whether it’s under-eye hollowing, dark circles or fine lines, tell us what you’d like to address. We’ll assess the cause and help you decide whether PRF EZ Gel suits your goals.
