Botulinum Toxin

Botulinum Toxin at Relax Med Aesthetics

Botox® is a prescription injectable treatment that temporarily relaxes selected muscles responsible for expression lines and other concerns caused by repeated muscle activity. It can soften frown lines, forehead wrinkles and crow’s feet, while also being used for treatments such as a subtle brow lift, lip flip, chin dimpling, jaw contouring and excessive sweating. Every treatment is mapped to how your muscles move and conservatively dosed for a rested, natural-looking result, not a frozen one.

Your visit

What a Botox session looks like

  • Consultation — we review your goals, assess how your face moves and map the injection points according to your anatomy.
  • Optional numbing — topical numbing cream can be applied for additional comfort, although many patients find it unnecessary.
  • 15–30 minutes: Treatment — small, precise doses are placed into the targeted muscles using a fine needle. Most patients describe the sensation as a quick pinch.
  • Same day: Aftercare — we explain how to care for the treated areas, and most patients return to their normal day-to-day activities immediately.
  • 3–7 days: Results begin — lines gradually soften within days, with the full effect visible at around two weeks.

How it works

Relaxing the muscle that folds the skin

Botox® temporarily relaxes the facial muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles. Every time you frown, squint or raise your brows, the underlying muscle contracts and folds the skin above it. Over years, those repeated folds etch into lines that stay visible even at rest.

A small, precisely placed dose blocks the nerve signal to that specific muscle, so the skin above it smooths and softens while the rest of your face keeps moving naturally.

An injectable treatment typically takes 15 to 30 minutes. Botox® is administered with a fine needle into the targeted muscles. Most patients describe the sensation as a quick pinch and return to normal activities the same day.

Started early, used as a long-term strategy

  • Preventative softening — started early and maintained consistently, Botox can help keep dynamic lines from etching deeper into the skin over time.
  • Conservative dosing — we dose to soften, not to freeze, and review your result before recommending any additional treatment.
  • Muscle-by-muscle precision — targeting one muscle without affecting the neighbouring muscles you want to keep moving is what keeps the result looking rested rather than done.

What it treats

Frown lines, forehead & crow’s feet

Botox softens expression lines between the brows, across the forehead and around the outer corners of the eyes.

Brow lift

Precisely placed Botox can relax the muscles that pull the brows downward, creating a subtle lift and a more open-looking eye area. The result is gentle rather than surgical.

Lip flip & lip lines

A lip flip uses a small amount of Botox around the upper lip to relax the muscle that turns it inward. This can allow more of the upper lip to show when smiling without adding volume. Botox may also soften selected expression lines around the mouth.

Chin dimpling

Botox can relax the overactive chin muscle responsible for a dimpled or pebbled appearance, helping the chin look smoother while maintaining natural movement.

Masseters & jaw contouring

Botox can relax the masseter muscles at the sides of the jaw. In suitable patients, this may soften a wider lower-face appearance caused by enlarged muscles. Treatment may also help with symptoms associated with jaw clenching.

Excessive sweating

Botox can reduce excessive sweating in selected areas, including the underarms and palms, by temporarily blocking the nerve signals that activate sweat glands.

Aftercare

The first 24 hours

You may experience slight redness, swelling or bruising at the injection sites, which usually subsides within a few days.

General aftercare guidance we share with patients:

  • Avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas for the first 24 hours.
  • Skip intense exercise, hot yoga, saunas and steam rooms for the rest of the day.
  • Stay upright for several hours after treatment.
  • Hold off on facials, microneedling and other skin treatments until your provider clears you.

As your results develop

Results begin to appear within 3–7 days, with the full effect visible at two weeks. Most patients return to their normal day-to-day activities immediately.

Reach out to our team with any questions as your results develop. We can arrange a follow-up review where appropriate, with any additional treatment based on your response and clinical assessment.

Maintenance

Results typically last 3–6 months. Maintaining a consistent schedule can help prevent dynamic lines from becoming more deeply etched over time.

Your provider will recommend when to return based on the area treated, your results and your goals.

When to contact us

Contact our team if you experience worsening redness, swelling, pain or another unexpected reaction.

Headache or temporary muscle weakness can occur, including brow or eyelid drooping after facial treatment. Seek urgent medical attention if you develop difficulty swallowing, speaking or breathing.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between Baby Botox and Full Botox?

At Relax Med, Baby Botox treats the forehead and frown lines between the brows. Full Botox also includes crow’s feet. Your provider will recommend the option that suits your goals and facial movement.

When will I see my Botox results?

Results usually begin to appear within 3–7 days and continue developing over the following two weeks. We recommend allowing the full result to develop before deciding whether any adjustment is needed.

How long does Botox last?

Results typically last between 3 and 6 months, although this varies according to the treatment area, dose and individual response. Your provider will recommend when to return based on how your results develop.

Will Botox make me look frozen?

That is not our approach. We use conservative, precisely placed doses to soften unwanted lines while preserving natural expression. The goal is to help you look rested, not noticeably treated.

Does Botox hurt?

Most patients describe the injections as a series of quick pinches. Treatment is performed with a fine needle and usually takes between 15 and 30 minutes, depending on the areas being treated.

What’s the difference between a lip flip and lip filler?

A lip flip relaxes the muscle around the upper lip, allowing slightly more of the lip to show without adding volume. Dermal filler physically adds volume and can refine the lip’s shape and definition. Some patients benefit from one treatment, while others may combine both conservatively.

Can Botox help lines that are visible when my face is at rest?

Botox reduces the movement that contributes to these lines. Deeper lines that remain visible when your face is relaxed may soften but may not disappear completely. Your provider can discuss whether another skin treatment would complement your Botox result.

Can Botox help with jaw clenching or a wider-looking jaw?

Botox can relax enlarged masseter muscles at the sides of the jaw. In suitable patients, this may help with symptoms associated with clenching and gradually soften a wider lower-face appearance caused by muscle size. It will not correct every cause of jaw pain or facial width, so assessment is important.

Can Botox reduce excessive sweating?

Botox can temporarily block the nerve signals that activate sweat glands, helping reduce excessive sweating in selected areas such as the underarms and palms. We assess the area and your medical history before recommending treatment.

Is Botox suitable for everyone?

No. Suitability depends on your medical history, medications and the area being treated. Botox should not be injected where there is an active infection and may be unsuitable for people with certain neuromuscular conditions or a known allergy to botulinum toxin ingredients. Treatment is generally deferred during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

What are the possible side effects?

Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising or headache can occur. Depending on the treatment area, temporary muscle weakness, asymmetry or brow or eyelid drooping is also possible. Seek urgent medical attention if you develop difficulty swallowing, speaking or breathing.

Can Botox be combined with other treatments?

Yes, where appropriate. Botox is often included in a wider plan with dermal filler, biostimulators or skin treatments because each addresses a different concern. We plan the sequence and timing according to your goals and recovery needs.

Keep the expression. Soften the lines.

Whether you’re concerned about expression lines, jaw clenching, a lip flip or excessive sweating, we’ll assess the muscles involved and plan your Botox treatment with precision. The goal is measured correction that still looks and feels like you.
