Hair Restoration
Hair thinning can have more than one cause, which is why our Hair Restoration Programme begins beneath the surface. Before recommending treatment, we assess your scalp, review your history and check key blood markers, including iron and ferritin, that may influence healthy hair growth.
Where appropriate, your programme may combine scalp microneedling, platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), blue-light scalp preparation and clinical red and near-infrared light therapy to create the right conditions for stronger, healthier-looking hair over time.
- Doctor-led assessment
- Bloodwork before treatment
- Multi-modal hair support
- Progress monitored over time
- First: bloodwork
- Iron and ferritin levels are reviewed before treatment begins
- Three days before
- Blue-light scalp preparation forms part of our pre-treatment protocol
- On treatment day
- Scalp microneedling is combined with PRF

How it works
Supporting the scalp from the inside and outside
Hair grows in cycles and responds slowly, which is why effective restoration requires more than stimulating the surface of the scalp. Our programme brings together investigation, scalp preparation, regenerative treatment and ongoing support, with each step serving a different purpose.
1. We investigate first
Hair shedding and reduced density can be influenced by genetics, hormones, nutrition, stress, illness, medication and scalp health. We begin with a consultation and scalp assessment, then arrange bloodwork to check key markers, including iron and ferritin.
Ferritin reflects the body’s stored iron. If your results suggest that low iron stores or another underlying concern may be contributing to your hair loss, this should be addressed before or alongside scalp treatment.
Beginning with bloodwork helps us avoid treating the scalp while overlooking a factor that may be working against your progress.
2. We prepare the scalp
A blue-light session is scheduled three days before your PRF and microneedling treatment. This forms part of our scalp-preparation protocol and is used to help reduce surface bacteria before controlled microchannels are created in the skin.
Blue light supports scalp preparation but does not replace proper cleansing or sterile technique on treatment day.
3. We combine PRF with scalp microneedling
A small sample of your blood is collected and processed to isolate platelet-rich fibrin. PRF contains platelets, fibrin and growth factors involved in tissue repair.
Microneedling creates controlled microchannels across the targeted areas of the scalp, stimulating a natural healing response. PRF is then used as part of the treatment to support the scalp environment and follicles.
Pairing the two allows us to approach thinning hair from more than one direction: microneedling stimulates the targeted areas while PRF supplies concentrated components obtained from your own blood that may support follicle activity and hair quality.
4. We support the programme with clinical red and near-infrared light
Clinical red and near-infrared light therapy may be used between or alongside treatment sessions. This non-invasive treatment, also known as photobiomodulation or low-level light therapy, uses controlled wavelengths of light to support cellular activity within the scalp.
Consistency matters. Clinical light therapy is used as one part of the programme rather than positioned as a single-session solution.
5. We monitor your response
Hair growth changes slowly, so progress is reviewed over time using photographs, scalp assessment and changes in shedding, density and hair quality.
Your programme may be adjusted according to your results, how your scalp responds and whether another contributing factor needs further investigation.
What it treats
Early thinning and reduced density
The programme may suit people noticing that their hair looks less dense, their part appears wider or more of the scalp has become visible.
Pattern hair loss
PRF, microneedling and low-level light therapy may form part of a treatment plan for suitable cases of male or female pattern hair loss.
Earlier intervention is generally more realistic than attempting to restore areas where follicles are no longer active.
Increased shedding
If you are experiencing more shedding than usual, we first assess possible contributing factors. Treatment of the scalp alone may not be enough if the shedding is related to low iron stores, hormonal changes, illness, medication, stress or another medical condition.
Changes in hair quality
Some patients are less concerned about a specific bald area and more concerned about progressively finer, weaker-looking hair. The programme may help support healthier-looking density and hair quality over time.
Sessions & results
A programme, not a one-time treatment
Hair restoration requires consistency. Your recommended number of PRF and microneedling sessions, their spacing and the frequency of clinical light therapy will depend on your assessment, blood results and response.
We document your starting point and monitor progress over time rather than relying on day-to-day impressions.
When results may become visible
Hair grows slowly, so results are measured in months rather than days. Reduced shedding may be noticed before visible changes in density, while improvements in thickness and coverage take longer to assess.
Not every type of hair loss responds to regenerative treatment, and results vary. Scheduled reviews allow us to determine whether the programme is helping and whether the approach needs to be adjusted.
Preparation & aftercare
Before treatment
Complete any requested bloodwork and attend your scheduled blue-light preparation session.
Tell our team about your medications, supplements, medical conditions, recent illness and any history of scalp infection or previous hair-loss treatment. Do not stop prescribed medication unless the clinician who manages it advises you to do so.
Follow the preparation instructions provided by our team, including guidance on washing your hair and which scalp products should be avoided before your appointment.
After PRF and microneedling
Temporary redness, tenderness, pinpoint bleeding or sensitivity can occur. Your scalp may feel tight or mildly irritated as it settles.
Our team will advise:
- When you can wash your hair
- When to resume scalp products and hair-loss medication
- When to return to exercise
- When you can colour or chemically treat your hair
- How to protect your scalp from direct sun exposure
- When to resume your clinical red and near-infrared light sessions
Avoid scratching, picking or applying unapproved products to the treated scalp.
When to contact us
Contact our team if you develop increasing pain, marked swelling, spreading redness, discharge, fever or another unexpected reaction.
Frequently asked questions
Why do I need bloodwork before treatment?
Low iron stores and other internal factors can contribute to shedding or reduced growth. Reviewing your results helps us identify whether something needs to be addressed before or alongside your scalp treatments.
What is the difference between iron and ferritin?
Iron is required for many functions within the body. Ferritin is a protein that stores iron and helps indicate the level of your iron reserves. Ferritin should not be interpreted on its own. We consider it alongside your symptoms, history and other relevant blood markers.
Why is blue light used before treatment?
Blue light is included in our scalp-preparation protocol to help reduce surface bacteria before microneedling. It supports preparation but does not replace cleansing, sterile technique or the instructions provided by our medical team.
Why combine microneedling and PRF?
Microneedling creates a controlled healing response within the scalp. PRF supplies platelets, fibrin and growth factors derived from your own blood. Combining them allows both treatments to support the scalp within the same programme.
What does the red-light cap do?
The cap delivers controlled red and near-infrared light to the scalp. With consistent use, low-level light therapy may support follicle activity and hair growth in suitable types of hair loss. It works gradually as part of the wider programme and is not expected to restore a full head of hair on its own.
Will this regrow hair in completely bald areas?
Not necessarily. Regenerative treatments depend on follicles that are still capable of responding. Areas with longstanding or scarring hair loss may require another approach, which is why assessment comes first.
Can everyone with hair loss have this programme?
No. Hair loss has many causes, and some require medical investigation or a different treatment. Active scalp infections, certain blood conditions, medications and other health factors may also affect suitability.
How soon will I see a difference?
Hair growth takes time. Changes are generally assessed over several months using progress photographs, scalp evaluation and your experience of shedding, density and hair quality.
Start with the cause, not just the shedding.
Tell us what you have noticed, whether it is increased shedding, a widening part or gradual loss of density. We’ll assess your scalp, investigate possible contributing factors and build a hair-restoration programme around what your hair actually needs.
